How do I measure for a tablecloth?
Measure both the length and width of your table. The usual etiquette for determining proper size is to add 20-24" to the length of your table and 20"-24" to the width. This would leave an overhang of about 11 inches on each side of your table.
But you should look at your own table to decide what overhang you like best.
For example:
A table measures 68"X50"
68+20=88 50+20=70
68+24=92 50+24=74
A 90"X70" cloth would be in this range.
Of course, not all tables fit so perfectly, and you will need to determine how much overhang suits your needs. If you need help with this, feel free to
e-mail or call with your table measurements.
What is the difference in styles and prices?
Quaker Lace tablecloths are quality tablecloths made in the U.S.A. regardless of price differences; however, several differences affect prices. Tablecloths high in cotton content are more expensive; cotton is a more expensive raw material than polyester. Cotton has a softer, high quality feel. Also, look for permanent press and soil release styles. Some designs are scalloped instead of a having straight hem; scalloping is a more difficult process. The amount of yarn used in a design affects prices; higher yarn content results in more expensive designs. This affects the weight. For instance, White House is a heavier, thicker lace than angels. Also, White House is made on the only antique machine of its kind in the country which makes White House an exquisite, rare design. Browse the designs to find one that suits your needs. Point value (threads per inch) determines weight...White House is 14 pt. Lower numbers are less heavy.
How do I care for these?
Most Quaker Lace items are machine wash & tumble dry which makes ease of care. It is best to use more delicate cycles with less heat. High temperatures will cause items to shrink - do not wash hot. It is best to follow manufacture instructions as listed on the package inserts. It is the nature of delicate lace cotton/poly textiles to give or shrink a few inches.
